Someone built your site by hand — here's the easy bit.
If your website was hand-built by a developer (not from a template), the easiest thing is to email them. We've pre-written the email — you just need their address.
Find your developer's email
Have a hunt through:
- Old invoices. If you paid someone to build the site, their email is on the invoice. Search your inbox for “invoice” and the website address.
- The footer of your website. Some developers put a credit (e.g. “Built by Smith Digital”) at the very bottom.
- Your contacts. If it was a family member or a mate, their email is probably in your phone.
- Email search for “website” or “domain”. The renewal reminders usually come from the email the dev used to set things up.
Open the dashboard and use our send-to-dev button
Inside your Voxinly dashboard, go to the install panel and click Email this to my web developer. We pre-fill the whole email with:
- your snippet
- your account ID (just so they don’t mix it up)
- step-by-step instructions for them
- a link they can use to verify it’s working
You just paste their email address into the To: field, hit send, and that’s your bit done.
What if I can't find my developer?
Happens all the time. A few things to try:
- Have us do it for you. Email install@voxinly.com with your website address. We’ll tell you what kind of site it is (we have ways) and offer to either install it ourselves or help you find a new dev. No charge for the look.
- Check your domain & hosting accounts. Whoever set up your hosting will have a login email on file. Often it’s the developer.
- Ask whoever pays for the website. If your accountant or business partner is on the hosting bill, they may have the dev’s details.
Not sure it’s actually a custom build?
Run our quick site finder — it’ll tell you in five seconds whether you’re actually on WordPress, Shopify, Wix, or Squarespace under the bonnet. A lot of sites that look custom are actually one of those.
What about my login details?
We don’t keep your password. We use it once to install your chatbot, then it’s gone from our system. Your login stays exactly as it was — nothing on your site changes, except a tiny bit of code we add to make the bot appear.
