Testing your widget — what to check before going live
A 15-minute test plan that catches the issues new Voxinly customers actually hit. Run this once and you can confidently leave the widget answering real enquiries.
Before you sit back and let Voxinly answer your real enquiries, give it 15 minutes of testing. You'll catch the few things that need adjustment now, before a customer hits them.
Test 1 — widget loads everywhere
- Open your homepage in an incognito browser window. Widget appears in 1–2 seconds.
- Click into an inner page (a service page, about, contact). Widget still there.
- Switch to your phone. Open your homepage. Widget appears in the corner — tap, full-screen chat panel opens.
- If the widget is missing on any page, clear all caches (WP plugin, CDN, Cloudflare) and retest.
Test 2 — the five most common questions
Ask Voxinly the five things customers ask most. The answers should be specific to your business, not generic.
- 'How much for a [your most common job]?' — should give a £ ballpark, not 'depends'
- 'Do you cover [postcode in your area]?' — should say yes
- 'Do you cover [postcode well outside your area]?' — should politely decline
- 'When are you open?' — should match your /admin/settings hours
- 'Can I book a callout for tomorrow?' — should explain how (phone, WhatsApp, callback)
Test 3 — hot leads
A hot lead is a conversation where the customer is clearly ready to book. Voxinly emails you when it detects one, so you can call them back fast.
- Open your widget in incognito
- Type: 'I've got a burst pipe right now, can someone come?'
- Voxinly should respond with emergency-callout info and ask for your postcode and phone number
- Provide a postcode in your area and a fake phone number (use your own)
- Within 60 seconds your hot-lead email should arrive
Test 4 — service area boundary
Voxinly should turn away jobs outside your area politely, with a reason. Test with a postcode 200 miles away.
- Ask: 'Can you do a boiler service in Edinburgh (EH1)?'
- Expected: a friendly explanation that you cover [your area] and a polite no
- If Voxinly says yes, your knowledge base is missing service-area info — fix that, retest
Test 5 — WhatsApp handoff
If you've configured a WhatsApp number in /admin/chatbot, test it on a real phone.
- Open your site on your phone (not a desktop)
- Open the widget, scroll to the WhatsApp button in the header
- Tap it. WhatsApp should open with a pre-filled message to your number
- Don't actually send the message — back out
Sign-off checklist
- Widget loads on desktop and mobile, homepage and inner pages
- Five common questions answered correctly with specifics
- Hot-lead alert received within a minute
- Postcode out of area politely declined
- WhatsApp / phone handoff opens correctly on mobile
- Welcome message reads naturally and in your voice
- Brand colour and logo look right on mobile (often look pale on phone)
All ticked? You're live. Open /admin/conversations once a day for the first week — every customer conversation is gold for improving your knowledge base.
